Windows Mobile Localisation (Good Technology - 2007)

Client: Microsoft

Microsoft rolled out a new 'Windows Mobile Software' section on www.windowsmobile.com and wanted this new content to be localised and rolled out throughout their European markets (including the UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain).

My role was to cost, plan and manage this localisation. Tasks included:

• Project planning and specification
• Budget forecasting
• Liasing with Microsoft subsidiaries throughout Europe to agree delivery schedules and take into account any local requirements/issues
• Management of the creation and approval of project documentation, eg technical specs, sitemaps, wireframes, copy decks etc
• Timeline and budget management
• Resource planning and coordination - developers, designers, copywriters, freelances etc
• Liaising with the team to ensure timely delivery to required quality standards
• Liaising with client and managing expectations
• Maintaining documentation, eg specs, sitemaps and wireframes
• Timeline and budget management
• Management of a new translation supplier to ensure that translations were made directly into XML files for accuracy and efficiency
• Carry out quality assurance work prior to full QA
• Managing project status reports

The project was delivered on time and within budget.
